Sofia Riba

Sofia Riba is a Mexico City born producer, actor, and co-founder of Femina Films. Her career began performing Shakespeare at Powerhouse Theater in NY before transitioning to film and TV. Sofia has since become an avid producer focusing on genre and auteur focused film. Her shorts have premiered at Sundance, HollyShorts, and NY Latino Film Festival.  Partial acting credits: They/Them (Blumhouse), Simon (38th Goya Awards Best Picture nominee), FBI (CBS). Up next, she'll appear as Claudia in SpeakLess, a horror feature directed by Kelley Kali (SXSW Special Jury Prize winner).
Andrea Riba

Andrea Riba is a Santiago, Chile born director, writer, and producing co-founder of Femina Films. She earned her MFA in Film Production from USC School of Cinematic Arts as a George Lucas Scholar, during which she worked for Pressman Films (American Psycho, The Crow). Her career began in photography, music videos, and commercials, with her work featured in Rolling Stone, Dazed, The Los Angeles Times, and Capitol Records. Named one of 2023’s top 10 vinyl designs by The Guardian, one of her album covers was created for Johnny Jewel's music label, Italians Do It Better (Drive, Twin Peaks).

The Golden Age of Mexican cinema began in 1936 with Allá en el Rancho Grande, a landmark romantic drama that captivated audiences. After WWII, as Europe and the US became immersed in war films, Mexico seized the opportunity to carve out a rich cinematic identity, producing commercially successful films that explored a more unique, fresh, and engaging perspective.
